Funded PhD Research Project Opportunity at Partrac Consulting

Three year funded research opportunity in the field of particle tracking.

Partrac Consulting and the Centre for Global Eco-innovation, University of Lancaster collaborate to offer a 3 year funded PhD research opportunity for a suitably qualified graduate in the development of fluorescent magnetic particle tracking and sediment tracing technology.

‘Particle tracking’ or ‘sediment tracing’ is used in a wide range of terrestrial, aquatic and marine ecosystems to monitor the movement of particulates, and associated nutrients, contaminants and microbes, through space and time. This project will develop a unique fluorescent magnetic particle tracking technology and methodology. This will then be applied to examine source – sink relationships, the nature and location of the transport pathway[s] and the rate of transport in aquatic (marine and freshwater) and terrestrial environments

The appointed graduate will be supervised by Partrac Consulting and the Universities of Lancaster and Liverpool. Applicants should have a good geoscience, physical geography, oceanography, environmental or marine science degree. Experience of environmental consultancy would be an advantage.
