Habitat Mapping

Mapping of seabed habitats is an important precursor activity to intrusive site investigations. It is also an essential tool when managing marine areas, helping establish sensible approaches to the conservation needs of individual habitats and better understanding the impacts of human interaction with marine habitats. Our environmental team can participate in offshore data acquisition programmes to design sampling strategies and appropriate sampling approaches to survey littoral and sublittoral habitats and associated biological communities. Thereafter, our team can draw together the available data (sidescan and bathymetry data, benthic video and photographs, and taxonomic data from samples) to form synoptic seabed habitat maps in accordance with JNCC guidelines.

Partrac provides:

  • Shipboard environmental teams
  • Comprehensive habitat reports
  • Modelling data to derive habitat distribution
  • Map creation with complete coverage of the seabed highlighting distinct boundaries between habitats
  • Comprehensive habitat reports
